I respect Mr. Polanski as a director and feel that Rosemary's Baby and Chinatown are classics. I am sorry he had a difficult life and bad things happened to him. But there is no excuse for what he did. At the time the girl was 13 and bottom line that is statutory rape. When you read the details it's actually a lot worse. He fled the country because he didn't think the judge was going to be fair. There is a such thing as appeals; he was offered the option to come back and clear things up but he chose not to.
The fact that he is an artist should not come into play here. He needs to face up to what he has done.
